The fixed mooring place of the Bosrokoman Nouvelle is at the pier of Hotel Torarica.
The boat and facilities
The Bosrokoman Nouvelle is a covered boat with a length of 15 meters, a width of 2.5 meters and a height of 2.15 meters, equipped with soft benches, hammocks, life vests, fishing rods, cushions for sunbathing, a comfortable toilet and a small stairway on the side of the boat if you wish to go swimming in the river.
On the foredeck and sunbathing roof you can fully enjoy the waves, the wind and the sun. The boat is furnished with a complete kitchen. During the fishing tours we supply you with fishing gear and bait.
We depart from the pier of Hotel Torarica. The boat first passes along the boulevard to Leonsberg. We then cross over the river for a visit to the fishery center at Nieuw Amsterdam. We continue the route in the direction of the Atlantic ocean.
On the way, the guide gives information about the history of the area, the nature and the villages along the route. Together with the boatman and the cook he sees to your safety and also finds time to spoil you with drinks and snacks. Passed Fort Nieuw Amsterdam we move on over the Commewijne river. At plantation Rust en Werk you go ashore for a glimpse in an aqua culture shrimp breeding farm. The next stop is at plantation Magrita, a small village where mainly swamp fishers live. From Magrita we walk over a
communication path to plantation Frederiksdorp.
This village is restored to its authentic state. We enjoy lunch at family Hagemeyer in their plantation home dating from 1770. On the way back, we moor at Nieuw Amsterdam, the capital of district Commewijne, also the seat of the district commissioner. You go for a walk through the village and you visit the open-air museum Fort Nieuw Amsterdam. In the pleasant afternoon sun we finally start the return trip on the river to Paramaribo.
